I don't usually share a lot about my work experiences, but I thought this time could be worth talking about it. I've been freelancing for around 2 years. I started after moving to London end of 2019. A lot happened, it basically allowed me to meet new people and work on cool things while having more time for personal projects. I guess I've been very lucky, most people I've worked with have been very professional, honest, organized, clear and communicating well. And not less importantly, paying on time.
July 2022, I was asked by a Canadian guy to work on a Delivery e-bike. A short project, just 3.5 days sketching and on Photoshop to create some sort of teaser images. It was during my quarantine in China, I love bicycles, I accepted and delivered quickly.
Usually, I give a month for my client to pay, although most of them pay me within a day to a week after project delivery. But this time the payment is 6 months overdue!! Many reminders were sent but I only got short communication and ridiculous excuses (or silence) in return despite a signed contract with clear terms and conditions. Very unprofessional behavior.
That's why today I'm publishing those sketches, here and on IG, considering the contract null and void. If you ever see something looking similar in Canada or elsewhere, give me a shout.
Lesson for the future: don't waste your time working for so called ''entrepreneur'' that don't respect your energy and professionalism.
